A new wilderness

Hello and welcome to Arborlands. I’m very excited to officially kick off Arborlands’ net presence and hope you will follow along as this game is developed.

It may start off small 🙂

Arborlands is a habitat building game, it works similarly to a city building game, but instead of creating buildings and roads, you grow a forest. Much like a city, a forest can be grown and maintained in many different ways.

You play as a species of tree dwelling creatures called Arborians. The primary dynamic of Arborlands will revolve around the path you choose in growing the Arborians’ habitat. You can live in nature as it is with its challenges and dangers, or you can choose to bend it to your benefit.

Optimizing the environment to your own species’ benefit will change the balance of your world. Successfully dealing with the changes you create could mean the flourishing of your species, but this will not come easily. A growing population can change the existing ecosystem radically. You could trigger extinctions, overharvest the land, and introduce invasive species (or become one!).
