Last week, we looked at the icons for Troop One, the Growers, and the Gatherers. This week we are continuing our look at the new profession icons, featuring the Caretakers, Rangers, and Builders!
Caretakers

Caretakers are educators, doctors, and storytellers. They care for the community’s health and spirit. This is the most elaborate of all the icons because I wanted to represent the attitude of nurturing and cooperation that guides the Caretakers.
The two arborins in the icon are selflessly stretching their arms towards each other, representing cooperation and common will. Their tails intertwine, hinting at the interdependence and commitment of teamwork. This is the only professional icon with a completely symmetric silhouette, representing the importance of co-equality in teamwork. A pastel blurple seemed like the right color for this profession.
Rangers

Rangers are driven by curiosity and the will to understand the world. They examine nature not just as a wonder in itself, but as a means to increase the odds of survival and progress.
For the rangers, I wanted to capture the intrepid spirit of the observant explorer, but also the indomitable and brash instinct of animals to survive. The ranger stands with a secure stance on a high branch with its gaze almost above the horizon. With its wits, wisdom, and physical fitness, the Ranger is ready to take on chaos itself in all its flavors. A light blue captures the optimism of the Rangers well.

Builders
Builders know that there is always a better way to do something. Builders construct homes, protective structures, dams, bridges, and other useful tools and structure. Builders change the world in a way that is identifiably arborin.

The symbol of the builders is the most elementary structure of all arborin construction: the fork-and-post joint. This is a simple combination of a single branch resting between the prongs of a forked branch. Yellow seemed the most fitting choice for the builders, as human construction tools are often yellow 👷♀️👷♂️.
Thanks for reading, next week we will delve into some new functionality when we talk about inhabiting forests! 🌳🌳🌳
